lets talk about Bladerunner

Just been watching it in media studies, and we've all seen it before (im sure, and i hope, what with it being a milestone film).

I just wondered what everyone thinks/thought of the movie. I mean, it crosses loads of genres and the film noir style in it is sweet.

It's made me want to make a film noir, dark, futuristic maybe, rainy, etc. Different directors of SCI FI tho portray different styles of the future, some, dark and murky (like Bladerunner) and others all bright and "yay" like Star Trek etc.

Film noir can;t be hard to make. Get some dark locations, smoke, smokers and some bright spots. yes?

Blade Runner is an interesting movie, but not half as phantastic as most 'movie-freaks' tend to say.

And regarding making a film noir by simply using 'some dark locations, smoke, smokers and some bright spots' ...
Go ahead, try it and have fun. I think you'll end up pretty frustrated.

I felt the voice-over that Scott discarded for his directors cut added to that whole noir feeling. But the revised ending was better.

I don't think you can make film noir. To me it was more of a movement than a genre itself. But go ahead and try. Afterwards you can make a western.

film noir has its roots firmly in the german expressionism movement of whatever 20th century decade -- it was also seen as way to cut budgets in the eatly days, cos you wouldn't see a whole location and you wouldn't need as many lights, see?

but it's one of my favourite styles when done well

bladerunner? a good film if you're in the mood for it, but it is just a movie

maybe i should watch it again but i'd probably fall asleep ;-)

Dammit Despin I was just about to mention Dark City. Don't kill me but in my opinion Dark City is better then Blade Runner.
"Do Andriods Dream of Electric Sheep?" The real question should be do humans dream of sheep, period?

I thought Blade Runner was great though I don't think Harrison Ford gave one of his better preformances in it.
Unfortunatley I have only seen it three times
